Welcome to Cabbaristan is an artistic and audiovisual project built around a 24-hour continuous percussion performance.
At the centre of the project, Cabbar, a self-taught percussionist, will engage his body in an endurance-based performance combining physical effort, sensory intensity, and rhythmic presence.
The body will become the instrument; time, the material.
Conceived as a collective framework, the performance will involve the participation of multiple musicians over the course of the 24 hours, generating an evolving musical and visual experience.
The project aims to establish a world record, specifically related to percussive practice.
The performance will form the basis of a film, which will record the full 24 hours and document Cabbar’s trajectory:
his path as a self-taught musician, from his Kurdish village to his artistic emancipation, shaped by informal transmission, migration, and the construction of a distinct rhythmic language.
At the intersection of performance, live music, and cinema, Welcome to Cabbaristan will propose a work in which rhythm becomes a physical act, a living memory, and a tool for emancipation.
